Maple burl salvaged from a neighbor’s sugar maple tree when he was having it removed.

It’s about how the current global financial system has led to the climate crisis and is the fueling our inability to seriously address it as a civilization. It raises a fundamental question we should all consider:Will it take the experience of suffering through a collapse of our global civilization to galvanize collective action to adopt more sustainable and equitable systems?

The Front-side shows the problem:

The wealthy are at the center of the problem but have empty hands. The mushroom represents how greed has infecting our financial, energy, and social institutions.

Right side text on the base is a recent quote from the Secretary General of the United Nations.

The back side:

shows a young adult praying we take action now, and hoping for a livable future, as signified by the blue bird. The child is distressed and in need to love and protection, as signified by the heart. The yellow flower signifies the benefits of a circular economy.
