Key Principles:

• Life is a fundamental property of the universe, and its evolution is driven by the innate universal intelligence that predates the universe’s most recent breath, and exists partially realized in all lifeforms.
• Evolution at the planetary scale focusses on the overarching creation of greater complexity and adaptation, and has historically been driven by dramatic (catastrophic) environmental changes.
• Humans are currently the most complex and adaptable species on the planet, but we have created a global-scale technological civilization, which because it has not been planned in any integrated fashion, is generating significant environmental changes that are destabilizing the climate and other natural system and threatening the survival of our civilization. Can our civilization learn from the past mistakes, or will we meet the fate of past civilizations, which have failed to adapt in time?
• Humanity has the potential for greater development. We have a significant capability for learning from experience, but we also possess a tendency to indulge selfishness, stupidity and anger.
• Human civilization faces multiple crises including global warming and all its climate-changing impacts, a flawed financial system that has generating tremendous inequality and resulted in lowering standards of living for many people, and the list goes on.
• Responding effectively to the challenges of global warming and our flawed financial system will require the development of processes for the intelligent management of planetary scale processes at local, regional, national and global levels.
• Stewards of Gaia are those responding with solutions to the many varied crises we face, and who in effect contribute to the idea of intelligent management of critical planetary scale processes as part of a transition to a mode of planetary technological intelligence
